Spin for a Cause: DJs Unite to Celebrate Danny Stubbs' Legacy

A special charity concert is being organized to honor the memory of Danny Stubbs, a well-known DJ from Stoke-on-Trent who passed away from cancer in August 2024 at the age of 40. Danny Stubbs was recognized for his work with major music stars such as U2 and Ariana Grande, and he began his career in Hanley in the early 2000s. After his death, many people in the music industry paid tribute to him, praising his creativity, passion, and the positive energy he brought to those around him.

The charity event will take place on May 3 at Keele University Students' Union. It will feature several DJs who were friends and colleagues of Danny, including Paul Oakenfold, Andy Moor, Scott Bond, Solarstone, and Tilt. The event is being organized by Dean Sherwin, who first met Danny in 2004 after opening his nightclub Zero in Hanley. Dean described Danny as a 'people person' whose positivity was infectious. He shared that Danny was always smiling and made everyone around him feel good. Dean said that if Danny were here, he would probably laugh and enjoy seeing his friends come together for this special occasion.

Paul Oakenfold, who was also a close friend of Danny, said he would perform a special set at the concert, including some of Danny's own music. The concert aims to celebrate Danny's legacy and the impact he had on the music scene. In addition to honoring Danny, the event will raise money for St Luke's Hospice and the Oxfordshire Oesophageal and Stomach Cancer Organisation. These organizations help people who are dealing with cancer, just like Danny did. The concert is expected to be a meaningful gathering for everyone who attends, as they remember Danny's life and support a good cause. The organizers hope that the event will inspire others and keep Danny's memory alive through music and charity.
