From Office Desk to Bake-Off Final: Slovak Star Whips Up Confidence!

Lenka Kaur, who works at the University of Bradford, has recently become a finalist on a popular Slovak baking show called Pečie celé Slovensko. This show is similar to The Great British Bake Off, but it takes place in Slovakia and features Slovak bakers. Lenka moved from Slovakia to the United Kingdom in 2002, but she returned to her home country earlier this year to take part in the competition. She said that being on the show has helped her become much more confident. Before, she did not like having her photo taken or being on video, but now she feels comfortable speaking in front of cameras. She believes this experience has changed her for the better.

Lenka left Slovakia when she was only 18 years old. She said that being able to go back and stay in Slovakia for a longer time was like a dream come true. Even though she now calls England her home, she still feels a strong connection to Slovakia because it is where she was born and it is part of her heritage. Spending time in Slovakia during the show was very special for her. Lenka started baking when she was just eight years old, learning from her grandmother. She even ran a small baking business from her home before joining the show.

The competition took place in a large tent set up in the grounds of Theresia Chateau. Each week, the bakers faced three different baking challenges. At the end of every week, one baker was eliminated by the judges. This year, the winner of the series was Jana Simová. Lenka said that she has grown a lot as a baker and now enjoys baking more than ever. She feels much more confident in her baking skills and loves to experiment with new flavors and recipes. She also likes to challenge herself by making different kinds of cakes. Lenka is proud of what she has achieved and looks forward to continuing her baking journey, trying out new ideas and sharing her love of baking with others.
