From Engineer to Yacht DJ: Spinning Beats Under the Greek Sun

Tom Hall, a native of Newport in Shropshire, made a bold decision to leave his job as a telecoms engineer and pursue his passion for music. After working as an engineer since 2020, Tom found himself drawn to the excitement and energy of DJing. His journey took a dramatic turn when a holiday to Zante, a popular Greek island, led to an unexpected career opportunity. While enjoying his vacation, Tom was invited to DJ at a local event, and his performance caught the attention of someone who offered him a job for the summer.

For the past three months, Tom has been living his dream in Zante, DJing at four or five yacht parties each week and performing at three or four club nights. His mornings are spent relaxing by the pool, soaking up the sun before heading out to entertain crowds of tourists. Tom says the decision to leave his engineering job was easy because music has always been his true passion. He started out playing in local bars and gradually worked his way up to bigger venues, including the famous Ministry of Sound club. Some of his tracks have even been featured on popular TV shows like Love Island and The Only Way is Essex. Tom recalls the early days of his music career, when he would send his homemade CDs to record labels with a simple note asking them to 'play me. '

Before moving to Zante, Tom was the resident DJ at clubs in Worcester and Evesham. He believes that working in Zante has helped him develop his skills, as he gets to play different genres of music for people who are on holiday and full of energy. Tom says that being able to perform in such a lively atmosphere has been a dream come true. As the summer comes to an end, Tom plans to return to the UK in October, where he will DJ at university freshers' parties. Although he may have to go back to his engineering job after the party season, Tom now has a new goal: to headline his own show or perform at major festivals like Creamfields or Tomorrowland within the next ten years. He is grateful for the opportunities he has had and is excited about what the future holds.
