Throughout the documentary, viewers see animals that are part of everyday life in London, such as pigeons hopping onto Tube trains, snakes living by canals, and even a Dalmatian dog in Dagnam Park getting close to a newborn deer. David Mooney, chief executive of the London Wildlife Trust, which helped produce the film, says these moments show how wildlife and people interact all the time in the city.

Some of the most touching scenes in 'Wild London' feature Sir David's gentle interactions with animals. At the Houses of Parliament, he holds a peregrine falcon chick while it is being tagged for identification, speaking softly to the bird. In Greenford, he carefully releases a tiny harvest mouse into a meadow, encouraging it to explore its new home. The director, Joe Loncraine, says Sir David's warmth and enthusiasm for nature are infectious and make the film special. Sir David is especially impressed by the wild beavers now living in west London, something he never expected to see. He believes that noticing and appreciating the nature around us is the first step to protecting it. If people love the wildlife in their city, they will want to keep it safe.
