Now, at 48 years old, he is returning to his roots in the art world by participating in this unique television series. Extraordinary Portraits, hosted by comedian Bill Bailey, brings together artists and people with remarkable life stories. The artists create portraits of these individuals, capturing their personalities and experiences on canvas.

Wilson expressed his excitement about joining the show, saying that art has always been close to his heart. He is looking forward to putting his experience to the test and sharing his passion for creativity with a wider audience. The new season will feature an exhibition of the portraits at the Loading Bay arts venue in Bradford in May. This follows a successful sold-out exhibition in Bradford in 2025, where portraits from a previous season were displayed. Wilson is especially pleased that the new series is being announced in Bradford, a city he feels a strong connection to. Growing up in West Yorkshire, he developed a love for creativity, humor, and community, and he is proud to see Bradford thriving as a center for culture and the arts.

Kaiser Chiefs are well-known for their hit singles like Ruby and I Predict A Riot, and they have won three Brit Awards over their two-decade career. Wilson's involvement in Extraordinary Portraits highlights his versatility as both a musician and an artist. Host Bill Bailey is also enthusiastic about the upcoming fifth season, noting that the artists pour their hearts into their work and the people being painted open up and trust the process. The results are powerful and moving, showing what portraiture can truly achieve. Suzy Klein, head of BBC Arts and Classical Music TV, said that the show is filled with uplifting and inspiring stories.
