However, their love endured, and they married in York Minster in 1961, a rare choice for a royal wedding venue. The wedding was a glamorous event attended by celebrities and royals from across Europe. After their marriage, Katharine became a mother to three children: George, Helen, and Nicholas. She traveled with her husband to places like Uganda, Hong Kong, and Germany due to his army career. She faced personal hardships, including losing a baby and suffering from depression. Despite these challenges, she continued her royal duties and became well-known for presenting trophies at Wimbledon, where she showed compassion to players, such as comforting Jana Novotná after a heartbreaking loss. In 1994, Katharine made history by becoming the first member of the royal family to convert to Catholicism since 1685.
