Arc'teryx said that the public's criticism made them realize the need to be more professional and respectful of nature. The artist, Cai Guo-Qiang, also apologized and said he would help authorities with recovery efforts. Cai is famous for his gunpowder paintings and outdoor pyrotechnic displays, including the fireworks for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The incident has sparked a wider conversation about the responsibilities of brands and artists when working in environmentally sensitive areas.
