Volunteers have already spent four years rebuilding a quarter-mile section of embankment and track, a project made possible by supporters who donated land, materials, and machinery. More than 100 volunteers are involved in various roles, from running the cafe and maintaining the gardens to restoring old train cars and buildings.

The railway is also planning to build a new restoration shed, which would replace the temporary shelter currently used for repairing and storing trains. This project is expected to cost around £200,000, and fundraising efforts are underway. The volunteers are committed to making the railway a safe and enjoyable place for everyone. Before they can start offering brake van rides, they need approval from the Office of Rail and Road, which ensures that all safety standards are met.
