Starting early next year, these non-EU tourists will have to pay €32, which is about $37 or £28, to enter the museum. This is a 45% increase from the current price. The Louvre has faced criticism over its security and management, especially after a major jewelry theft last year. A gang managed to steal jewelry worth $102 million and escape within minutes. An official review after the incident found that the museum's security systems were outdated and its infrastructure needed repairs. To address these issues, the museum will use the extra money from ticket sales to upgrade security and renovate old parts of the building. From January 14, visitors from outside the European Economic Area, which includes EU countries, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein, will pay an extra €10 for entry. Groups with accredited guides will also see their ticket prices rise to €28.
