Czafari, a singer from Tipton whose real name is Czarena Brown, is encouraging new artists to keep chasing their dreams, no matter how tough things get. She recently performed at the Mostly Jazz, Funk and Soul Festival in Birmingham, which was a huge achievement for her. Czafari started writing music about nine years ago because she wanted to share her love for storytelling with the world. At 26 years old, she has already experienced many ups and downs in her music career. She first appeared at the festival as a DJ in 2021, but this year she got to perform as a singer, which she described as an 'incredible' experience. Czafari remembers attending the festival four years ago and thinking to herself that she wanted to be on one of those stages. Now, after years of hard work and persistence, she finally made it. She said that performing on the second stage made her feel amazing and grateful that she never gave up, even when things were slow and she wasn't getting many opportunities. There were times when she felt like quitting because she didn't have the confidence to release her music, but she kept going and is proud of how far she has come.
Czafari's love for music started when she was just four years old, singing in her grandparent's gospel choir. She was probably the youngest member, but she had a strong voice and a passion for singing. She admits that performing in front of people was scary at first, but music has always been a part of who she is. Singing brings her joy and helps her feel more connected to herself. She says that when she sings, her endorphin levels go up and she feels happier. Looking back at old photos, it's clear that Czafari was never shy about performing. At five years old, she sang for her family on Christmas Day, wearing a pink tiara and using her new microphone and guitar. Her parents always supported her love for music, which made her feel seen and encouraged her to keep going.
At 17, Czafari released her first EP and performed at her first event at The Night Owl in Digbeth, Birmingham. Since then, she has released a second EP and her songs have even been played on BBC 1Xtra. Although the famous Glastonbury Festival won't be back until 2027, performing there is still one of her biggest dreams. She watches performances from the festival and imagines herself on that stage. Czafari believes that having big dreams is important, and she is determined to make hers come true. She wants other new artists to know that it's normal to face challenges, but it's important to keep going and believe in yourself. Her story is a reminder that with hard work, passion, and persistence, dreams really can come true.
