斯里蘭卡季風洪水造成七人死亡

The recent monsoon rains in Sri Lanka have resulted in devastating floods and landslides, claiming the lives of at least seven individuals, as reported by the country's Disaster Management Centre (DMC). The impact of the floods has been particularly severe in Sitawaka, where a family tragically lost three members due to the inundation of their home. Furthermore, the widespread flooding has prompted the discontinuation of electricity in multiple areas, along with the closure of schools on Monday. With landslide warnings issued in nine districts, DMC Director Pradeep Kodippili has highlighted the escalating flood risk in Colombo and other southern regions, urging the populace to heed emergency announcements from the government and DMC. In response to the crisis, the military has been activated to provide essential relief, with the Air Force deploying helicopters and rescue teams, and the Navy making preparations to dispatch additional teams. Additionally, the Ministry of Electricity and Energy has collaborated with the DMC to suspend power supplies in affected areas, with plans to reinstate electricity following the abatement of the floods.
