香港簡化申請流程核准兩種新抗癌藥物

Hong Kong's health authorities have sanctioned the use of two new cancer treatment drugs. This comes a month after the government implemented a simplified process to expedite applications for pharmaceutical products in the city. The Health Bureau announced on Friday that the two medications were approved a day earlier under the '1+' approval framework. This framework was initiated in November following a proposal by Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu in October.

The Health Bureau stated that these approvals exemplify the effective operation of the new '1+' mechanism. It also signifies the realisation of the policy objective of procuring 'good drugs for Hong Kong'. This marks a significant milestone for Hong Kong in its progressive evolution into an internationally recognised regulatory authority for drugs and medical devices. It also positions the city as an international health and medical innovation hub.

The bureau added that the names and manufacturers of the drugs would be disclosed later on the Pharmacy and Poisons Board's website. The bureau also mentioned that these medications are used to treat metastatic colorectal cancer. They are intended for patients for whom traditional chemotherapy treatments have proven ineffective or inapplicable. The simplified mechanism was launched on November 1, following the government's commitment to accelerate the application process for new drugs that could treat rare or life-threatening diseases.
