The sandstorm created an orange cloud that reduced visibility to less than one kilometer. Cars with red headlights navigated through the storm on busy roads in Najaf, while police officers, wearing face masks, directed traffic amidst the orange haze. Authorities were compelled to close airports in Najaf and Basra due to the hazardous conditions. Local weather services indicated that conditions would gradually improve by Tuesday morning.
