Scott 'Baby Daddy' Hoffman, who plays keyboard and bass, mentioned, 'It gives us an opportunity to do things in kind of a different way. ' The band is excited about the possibility of inviting special guests to join them on stage, including Rebecca Lucy Taylor, who co-starred with Shears in the London production of Cabaret. Shears expressed his admiration for Taylor, saying, 'God, I love her so much,' and Baby Daddy added, 'It's a great idea. Maybe she'll come do some songs. ' The band promises that their performances will be filled with energy and spontaneity, with Shears stating, 'That's the magic ingredient and we're definitely gonna bring that 'anything can happen' energy again. ' The Scissor Sisters emerged from New York's vibrant nightlife scene and quickly made a name for themselves with their unique sound and style. They gained widespread recognition with their fluorescent cover of Pink Floyd's 'Comfortably Numb' in the early 2000s, and their debut album became the best-selling record in the UK in 2004. The band received three Brit Awards and produced several chart-topping hits, including 'Take Your Mama' and 'I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’. ' After releasing four albums, the band announced their break during a sold-out concert at London's Roundhouse, where Shears told the audience, 'This will be the last time we will play in London for quite some time. ' Reflecting on their decision to take a break, Shears mentioned that he wanted to leave the band on a high note, especially after the unexpected success of their drag-inspired single 'Let's Have A Kiki,' which became a staple at gay bars and Pride events. During their time apart, Shears released two solo albums and collaborated with Elton John on a Broadway musical, while Baby Daddy pursued his interests in graphic novels and songwriting for other artists. The idea for a reunion sparked during the pandemic when the band hosted a live-stream of their 2007 concert DVD to raise funds for the charity Trans Lifeline. Shears remarked, 'We kind of surprised ourselves that the show was good and that there was something there that was unfinished. ' The band members were touched by the support they received from fans, particularly in the UK, where they felt a strong sense of belonging.
