The cast for the new Harry Potter TV series has been revealed, featuring several Bafta-winning actors and fresh faces. Katherine Parkinson, known for her roles in The IT Crowd and Rivals, will take on the role of Molly Weasley, a beloved character originally played by Julie Walters in the Harry Potter films. This casting choice has excited many fans who look forward to seeing Parkinson bring a new dimension to the character.

Johnny Flynn, who has appeared in Netflix's Ripley and the film The Dig, will portray Lucius Malfoy, the father of Draco Malfoy. Young actor Lox Pratt, recognized for his performance in BBC's Lord of the Flies, will play Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter's school rival and a key figure in the story. The inclusion of these talented actors promises a strong portrayal of the Malfoy family dynamic.

The series also features Bel Powley from The Morning Show as Aunt Petunia and Daniel Rigby, a Bafta winner for his role as Eric Morecambe, as Uncle Vernon Dursley. Bertie Carvel, known for playing Tony Blair in The Crown, will appear as Cornelius Fudge, a significant character in the wizarding world’s government. The show will also introduce new Hogwarts students played by Leo Earley, Alessia Leoni, and Sienna Moosah. With John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, the cast is shaping up to be impressive. The series is expected to premiere in late 2026 or early 2027 on HBO.
