In Newport, a town on the Isle of Wight, people can now enjoy a special art trail featuring life-size copies of famous paintings. These reproductions are part of an outdoor gallery that stretches for about one mile through the town center. The trail includes 18 different paintings, all placed in frames and hung on buildings, in alleyways, and near the harborside. Some of the most well-known artworks on display are The Water-Lily Pond by Claude Monet, Sunflowers by Vincent van Gogh, and The Umbrellas by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The paintings are easy to spot because they are set in gold frames and mounted on walls, making them look just like they would in a real museum.

The art trail is called the National Gallery: Art On Your Doorstep, and it is designed to be accessible to everyone. The route is step-free, so people with wheelchairs or strollers can also enjoy the art. The exhibition will be open until October 30, giving residents and visitors plenty of time to see the paintings. One of the highlights is a reproduction of The Presentation of the Virgin and Child by His Patron Saint John the Baptist and Saints Edward and Edmund, which is displayed at Newport Minister. Another painting, Men of the Docks by George Bellows, is fittingly placed on Sea Street, adding to the local flavor of the trail.

Alex Minns, who is the service director for community regeneration and economy at the Isle of Wight Council, said that having these famous artworks in Newport is incredible. He believes the art trail transforms familiar places into an open-air gallery that everyone can enjoy. The Isle of Wight is one of only seven locations in the UK chosen to host this national exhibition. The art trail not only brings world-class art to the community but also encourages people to explore their town in a new and exciting way. With the paintings on display until the end of October, there is plenty of time for everyone to experience this unique outdoor gallery.
