Matt Aitken, who stood in the middle, had his left arm out and a big grin on his face, wearing a blue coat and a flat cap. Pete Waterman, wearing a navy gilet and glasses, also smiled for the camera. The plaque highlights that they achieved worldwide success and acclaim while working from this building between 1984 and 1993. Waterman expressed his nostalgia during the ceremony, stating, 'There are so many memories here… but the most important thing was this building was special. ' He acknowledged that the area has transformed into a trendy place, but it was once a home for them, and the local community was incredibly supportive. Aitken added that Southwark has a rich history, and while he might not have recognized it himself, their work there represents a small piece of history for the area and certainly for pop music. He emphasized that their success was a combination of hard work, a bit of luck, and some talent.
