Brian Pearce, the chairman of Railworld and a 76-year-old man with grey hair and glasses, expressed his excitement about the award. He was holding a beautifully engraved glass trophy that symbolizes the hard work and dedication of the volunteers over the past four decades. The event organizers praised Railworld for its remarkable vision and commitment, highlighting the enthusiasm of its 'crazy, passionate volunteers. ' Mr. Pearce shared that the site was once a neglected coal yard but has now been transformed into a vibrant green space in the heart of the city. A large sign at Railworld displays photos and information about the attraction, and visitors can see real trains from their collection beyond the sign. The awards ceremony took place at the Hilton Hotel in London last week, where Railworld shared the top category prize with Stourbridge's Glass Museum, which was recognized for its eco-friendly upcycled glass exhibition. Mr. Pearce admitted that they were surprised to win, especially since they were competing against such a prestigious institution as the Natural History Museum. Becky White, the 45-year-old attractions manager, expressed her joy at the recognition of the volunteers' hard work, especially as Railworld celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. She mentioned that there are around 20 volunteers from various backgrounds who contribute significantly to the attraction, making a positive impact on the community in Peterborough and beyond.
