David Olusoga, a well-known historian and filmmaker, recently took part in The Celebrity Traitors, a popular television show. His most vivid memory from his time in the castle was laughter. David, who now lives in Bristol but grew up in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, reached the finale alongside two other faithful contestants: Joe Marler, a former England rugby player, and Nick Mohammed, an actor and comedian. Together, they faced off against the two remaining traitors, singer-songwriter Cat Burns and comedian Alan Carr, for a chance to win £87,500 for their chosen charities.

David explained that all the contestants were fans of the show before joining, which made the experience even more exciting. He said, 'We thought it'd be an incredible experience and it really was. ' At the beginning of the series, David told host Claudia Winkleman that he did not want to be chosen as a traitor. He felt that being a traitor would be very difficult because it meant not being able to tell the truth in such an intense environment. He said, 'I think it's really tough. ' Throughout the series, the 16 faithful contestants struggled to identify and banish the three traitors hiding among them.

In the final episode, Alan Carr managed to win the prize pot for his chosen charity, Neuroblastoma UK. Despite often laughing and smiling during tense moments, which many viewers thought was a clear sign of his true role, the faithful contestants did not pick up on the clues. David commented that what is shown on TV is only a tiny fraction of what was filmed, and editing can make things seem more obvious than they were in real life. He said, 'We all loved Alan so much and he just seemed to be the nicest person that you could imagine, but also he was so bad… I guess he sort of double bluffed us because he wasn't trying to pretend that he was a faithful when he was really a traitor. ' David also noted that Alan was very emotional at the end, showing how difficult the experience was for him. After the finale, the contestants spent the morning texting each other to reflect on Alan's 'wonderful' victory. David's strongest memory from the castle remains the laughter and the friendships formed during the show.
