Lucy Armstrong-Blair is the curator of Cwmmau Farmhouse, a historic building in Whitney-on-wye, Herefordshire. This farmhouse became famous recently because it was used as a key filming location for the Oscar-winning movie Hamnet, which stars Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal. Jessie Buckley played Agnes Shakespeare, the wife of William Shakespeare, who was played by Paul Mescal. Lucy said that while the movie was being filmed at the farmhouse, she could sense that something magical was happening. She described the atmosphere on set as special and said that everyone involved seemed to know they were making something important.

The farmhouse itself has a long history. It was built in the early 1600s, first as a hunting lodge for wild boars and later turned into a farmhouse. In the movie, it was used to represent Agnes Shakespeare's childhood home. The real house was in Shottery, a small village near Stratford-upon-Avon. Lucy said that both Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal were wonderful to work with. Paul Mescal was very focused on his acting, using a method style, but Jessie Buckley was especially warm and friendly. She often chatted with the crew and was always smiling, which made the experience enjoyable for everyone.

Lucy was proud that Herefordshire played a part in the movie's success. She said that Jessie Buckley and her team brought international attention to the area, and she hopes the local community will celebrate this achievement. One moment that stood out to Lucy was a dramatic death scene that had to be filmed multiple times. The actors had to scream over and over, which was tough to listen to, but it showed how much work goes into making a movie. Lucy explained that behind the scenes, there are many people working hard on things like lighting and sound, and everyone has to be very quiet during filming. After the movie was made, the farmhouse was turned into a holiday cottage that can host up to ten people for about £1,200 a night. The film crew helped repair the house and donated money for other projects, which Lucy said was very helpful. Now, anyone can stay at the farmhouse and experience the place where Hamnet was filmed. Lucy thinks it's a perfect spot for relaxing and spending time with friends or family.
