This weekend, Dumfries is set to welcome tens of thousands of young music fans for the annual Youth Beatz festival. The event, which takes place at Park Farm showfield on Saturday and Sunday, has already distributed around 40,000 free tickets. Youth Beatz is known as the largest youth music festival of its kind in the UK, and it is especially popular among people aged 12 to 25. The festival will feature performances from well-known artists like Example and Caity Baser, as well as several up-and-coming local musicians who will get the chance to perform in front of a large crowd.

Youth Beatz has been running since 2009 and has always been free to attend, thanks to funding from Dumfries and Galloway Council. Although there have been talks about charging for tickets in the past, the council has decided to keep the event free so that as many young people as possible can enjoy it. Last year, the festival brought more than one million pounds to the local economy, showing how important it is for the community. Organizers are working hard to make sure everything goes smoothly, and they are hoping for good weather after a warning for thunderstorms is expected to end early Saturday.

The festival is not just about music. There will be four main stages and a wide range of daytime activities for young people and families. These include sports sessions, inflatable games, cycling displays, and a youth information area where visitors can learn about local and national services. A new sports zone, supported by Commonwealth Games funding, will offer activities like climbing, curling, and mountain biking, all led by qualified coaches. The festival will also host The Toon, an interactive learning experience that covers important topics such as health, crime, and substance misuse. Organizers and Police Scotland have emphasized that the event is alcohol-free, and there will be security checks to keep everyone safe. With so much to see and do, Youth Beatz promises to be an exciting and memorable weekend for everyone who attends.
