The primary objective of the research is to provide astronomers with a better understanding of the causes and mechanisms behind supernovae. Dr. Mark Magee, the lead author of the research, highlighted that AI will significantly speed up the process of creating supernovae models. While the current method takes up to 90 minutes to generate a single model, AI will be capable of producing thousands of models in less than a second. The university emphasized that AI will enhance the accuracy of the research and assist in identifying models that closely resemble real-life explosions.
