Many people believe that being a social media influencer is an easy job, but Lauren Davies from Nantwich, Cheshire, says it is much harder than it looks. Lauren has over 300,000 followers on Instagram and also runs an agency that helps other influencers grow their online presence. She and her business partner manage 18 clients, most of whom are mothers who create content about their homes, families, and everyday lives. Lauren says that having a supportive network is very important. She wanted to build a team where everyone could share ideas and support each other. Even though Lauren is successful, her own mother still does not really understand what she does for a living and thinks she just stays at home.

Lauren believes that being authentic and posting regularly are the most important parts of being a successful influencer. She says that making content can be very profitable if you do it right. Brands often pay influencers to promote their products, but they can be very specific about what they want in the posts. Lauren explains that the amount of money you can make depends on how many people watch and interact with your content. However, she also says that being an influencer is not just about making money. It is about sharing things you care about and connecting with your audience. Making videos and posts can sometimes feel lonely, and there are also challenges like dealing with online trolls. Lauren says that some people think it is okay to be mean to influencers just because they are in the public eye, but many influencers did not plan to become famous—they just shared what they loved, and people started to follow them.

Lauren admits that posting on social media and reading comments can become addictive. People often get caught up in checking their follower count and seeing how many views their videos get. To help her clients, Lauren’s agency, Talent Wise Management, organizes two bonding trips each year. During these trips, clients talk about their experiences, share ideas, and create new content together. Lauren also hosts big events called Housewise Socials, where about 100 content creators meet with well-known brands and pitch their ideas. She says these events are exciting because they allow influencers to connect in person and escape the isolation of working online. Before becoming an influencer, Lauren worked in home decor design and development. She now calls being an influencer her dream job because it offers flexibility and rewards. Lauren believes that creating good content is a real skill, and she is proud that people enjoy watching what she and her clients make.
