On Sunday, Oxford saw a unique event as hundreds of cyclists gathered for a drum and bass bike rave led by DJ Dom Whiting. Dom, who comes from High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, is famous for being the DJ On The Bike. He rides a specially modified bicycle that carries speakers and DJ decks, allowing him to play music as he cycles through different cities and towns. The event, called Drum & Bass On The Bike, started at 2 PM at the Clarendon Building on Broad Street and was streamed live on Facebook for people who could not attend in person.

Alex Harding, a resident of Cowley, was one of the many people who planned to join the ride. He said the event created a unique contrast with the old city of Oxford, mixing modern drum and bass music with the city’s historic buildings. Dom Whiting explained that he chose Oxford for his bike rave because it is known as a cycling city. He thought it would be the perfect place to bring together music and cycling. Dom also enjoys seeing the old architecture as he rides through the city, especially in the town centre where the old market used to be. He said that is one of the coolest things about Oxford.

Organisers estimated that nearly 1,000 people attended the event on Sunday. Many cyclists followed Dom as he played music, and some took photos and videos to remember the day. Dom said that every city has its own energy, and he planned to play a variety of songs in Oxford to match the city’s vibe. He believes that the event appeals not only to music fans but also to people who simply enjoy cycling. Even those who do not usually listen to drum and bass might join in for the fun of riding together. Alex Harding, who works as a personal trainer, said he finds drum and bass music very exciting and thinks the community at these events is always welcoming. He discovered Dom Whiting two years ago and now even plays drum and bass music for his clients. He described the bike rave as absolutely incredible and said it is amazing how Dom combines cycling and DJing at the same time. The event was a big success, and many hope to see more bike raves in Oxford and other cities in the future.
