Neville Johnny, who owns a DIY shop, often donates paint for the murals. He remembers when the high street was run down and not a place people wanted to visit. Now, thanks to the art and the efforts of the community, Deptford has become a place where people want to spend time, meet friends, and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

Mary Portas, a well-known retailer and consultant, says that high streets are important because they give people a place to connect. She points out that after the Covid pandemic, people have realized how much they need to meet and talk with others. The government has promised to help high streets like Deptford by investing money and creating new strategies. However, Dr. Jack Brown from King's College London says that money is not always easy to find, and sometimes it is the community's involvement that makes the biggest difference.
