The event featured traditional Scottish competitions such as caber tossing, hammer throwing, Highland dancing, a hill race, and a mass pipe band parade. In the tug-of-war contest, three men in matching black uniforms with red collars and socks pulled hard on a thick rope, their faces showing the effort. Another man, dressed in a black T-shirt and tartan kilt, took part in the hammer throw, swinging a hammer attached to a chain. Spectators watched from behind green safety netting. Highland dancing was also a highlight, with two young girls performing on stage in traditional outfits, one in red and white and the other in green and white, while other dancers and spectators looked on.

This was the third Braemar Gathering that King Charles attended as monarch, although he had been to many before as the Duke of Rothesay. He wore a kilt for the occasion, and Queen Camilla wore her blue coat with a tartan collar. The Braemar Gathering has been held in its current form for almost 200 years, with Queen Victoria attending in 1848. Since then, the reigning monarch has often attended. The event takes place every year on the first Saturday of September. Other scenes from the day included a young person jumping in a green sports jersey with 'BRAEMAR' printed on it, a marching band in traditional Scottish attire playing bagpipes and drums, and children participating in a sack race. The King and Queen sat in an outdoor viewing box decorated with greenery and red flowers, under a crest with a lion and the motto 'DIEU ET MON DROIT. ' A man was seen throwing a shot put ball on a grassy field, with a large crowd and cloudy skies in the background.
