A recent US congressional report has brought to light the involvement of BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, and Volkswagen in using parts from a banned Chinese firm. According to the report, BMW imported at least 8,000 Mini Cooper cars into the US with components from the banned Chinese firm Sichuan Jingweida Technology Group (JWD). Similarly, Jaguar Land Rover was found to have imported spare parts that included components from JWD after the company was placed on the banned list. However, Volkswagen did not provide an immediate response to the report. The report has also raised questions about the effectiveness of automakers' self-policing, with a Democrat Senator expressing concerns about its inadequacy. Additionally, the US Customs and Border Protection agency has been called upon to enhance enforcement and take strict actions against companies contributing to the use of forced labor in China.
