He thinks social media companies should use their resources to remove predators and harmful content, instead of just trying to avoid government fines. Macy also believes there are issues with social media, gaming, and screen time, but she says these platforms offer many benefits, like education, communication, and helping young people feel included in society.

Macy suggests that instead of a blanket ban, there should be better education about online dangers, stronger safety measures like age verification, and more resources to help kids use social media safely. Both teens say the ban would hurt their relationships and limit their access to information, especially about politics. Macy points out that democracy and learning about important issues should not be restricted to people over 16. The Digital Freedom Project, led by New South Wales parliamentarian John Ruddick, is supporting their legal challenge.

The government, represented by Communications Minister Anika Wells, says it will not back down, even in the face of legal challenges or opposition from big tech companies. Most Australian adults support the ban, according to polls, but some mental health experts worry it could isolate children from their peers or push them to use less regulated parts of the internet. The debate continues, with many young people and parents wondering how the new law will affect their lives and connections online.
