Karen's most recent film, 'The Life of Chuck', was shot before she became a mother. The movie is based on a novella by Stephen King and features a star-studded cast including Tom Hiddleston, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Mark Hamill. The story follows the life of Charles 'Chuck' Krantz, beginning with his death, which coincides with the end of the universe, and then moving backward to his childhood. Karen says the film is not what people might expect from Stephen King, as it is not a horror story but rather a life-affirming exploration of how to live meaningfully. In the movie, Karen plays Felicia, a nurse who is aware that the universe is ending. She spent time thinking about what it would feel like to know the world was coming to an end and realized that things like awards and money would lose their importance. Instead, she believes that being with loved ones is what truly matters. Karen was pregnant with Clementine when 'The Life of Chuck' premiered in Toronto, and she attended the Hollywood premiere in June, marking her first red carpet event since becoming a mother. She says her perspective has changed completely since having her daughter, and her main purpose now is to protect her child, although she still enjoys acting. Karen is unsure how she will manage having a baby on set during long filming hours, but she is determined not to be separated from her daughter.
