The fossil likely comes from a rock formation called the Alston formation, which is about 350 million years old. Crinoids are related to sea urchins and sea cucumbers. Complete crinoid fossils are rare, and most people only find the individual discs. Christine’s discovery is special because it is a larger, more complete piece. She says the fossil brings joy to many people, and she is happy to keep it as part of her collection.
