There are also financial risks for Paramount if the merger is delayed. If the deal is not finished by September 30, Paramount will have to pay Warner Bros shareholders a fee of about $7 million every day until the merger is complete. This is called a ticking fee, and it could cost Paramount a lot of money. The Writers Guild of America, which represents writers in the movie and TV industry, is also against the merger. They are worried that the new company would have too much power and could lower wages or reduce jobs for writers. In the UK, regulators are also looking at the merger to see if it could hurt local news, children's TV, or competition in streaming services. Paramount says the merger will be good for viewers, promising to release at least 30 movies in cinemas every year, which is double what they do now.
