' The agency's warning comes as a reminder of the devastating flash floods that struck Boscastle, Cornwall, in 2004, where over 50 individuals had to be rescued from their homes. This year marks the 20th anniversary of that event, and the Environment Agency, in collaboration with Exeter City Council, is keen to ensure that people are prepared. The campaign encourages holidaymakers to look out for warning signs, including heavy rain and rapidly rising water levels. It is also important for visitors to have a plan in place in case a flash flood occurs and to know the evacuation procedures for their accommodation. 'Before you go on holiday, check if there are any flood warnings in the area you are visiting,' Ms. Hansen advised. 'You should also sign up for Met Office severe weather warnings to stay informed about any thunderstorms or severe weather conditions that may arise.
