With help from Film Hub NI and Newcastle Community Cinema, he set up the non-profit cinema, which has quickly become a favorite spot for locals. The cinema does more than just show films; it often includes extras like fizz, canapes, and themed decorations, especially during special events like Christmas. Their Christmas screenings, held in a local restaurant, were so popular that both nights sold out. The film 'It's a Wonderful Life' was a big hit, drawing in people who love its message and holiday spirit.

Lydia McAleenan, who is 57, attended the Banbridge Community Cinema for the first time and was impressed by the warm, cozy atmosphere. She has a tradition of watching 'It's a Wonderful Life' every Christmas Eve with her family, and she appreciates the film's focus on mental health. Lydia said the event felt festive, with mulled wine and beautiful decorations, making it a memorable experience.

Avril Campbell, another attendee, said she enjoyed watching classic films and appreciated the special touches like mince pies and Christmas cake. She skipped the Halloween screening because she doesn't like scary movies, but she was excited to see 'It's a Wonderful Life' on the big screen. Avril also mentioned that her younger colleagues were surprised she wanted to see such an old film, but she loves the chance to revisit iconic movies from the past.

In Belfast, Corey McKinney helps run the Ormeau Community Cinema. He believes that community cinemas offer a relaxed and friendly environment, partly because they use different venues along the Ormeau Road, including bars. This flexibility allows people to feel more comfortable and makes the events accessible to a wider audience. The cinema also uses a sliding ticket scale, so people can pay what they can afford, making it easier for everyone to join in. Ormeau Community Cinema shows a variety of films and hosts events for all ages, with their annual horror festival being especially popular. Corey hopes that more community cinemas will open in Northern Ireland, helping even more people experience the joy of watching movies together in a welcoming setting.
