The Disney Treasure, a large cruise ship, came to the rescue of four individuals stranded on a sinking catamaran named the Serenity. The situation began when the Serenity started to flood due to a failure in the seal around its escape hatch. The passengers on board quickly realized they were in danger and sent out a distress call to the US Coast Guard. In response, the Coast Guard issued an emergency alert to nearby vessels. Fortunately, the Disney Treasure was the closest ship, located 80 miles away at the time. Without hesitation, the Disney Treasure launched a small rescue boat to assist the four passengers in distress. Catamarans, like the Serenity, are unique boats that have two parallel hulls connected by a single deck. They can vary in size, from lightweight boats used in Olympic sailing to larger passenger ferries. The Serenity was a smaller catamaran, measuring only 15 meters in length. Meanwhile, the Disney Treasure is an impressive 340 meters long and was making its way across the Atlantic from Europe to Florida, where it is set to embark on its maiden voyage in December. This ship will join Disney's fleet as the sixth passenger liner. Captain Marco Nogara, who leads the Disney Treasure, expressed his satisfaction with the successful rescue operation. He stated, 'We are pleased that the Disney Treasure was able to provide aid to the boat passengers in peril. ' He also praised his crew for their teamwork and dedication to safety, saying, 'Our crew members worked together on the rescue, skilfully demonstrating their training and commitment to safety. ' This incident highlights the importance of preparedness and cooperation in emergency situations at sea.
