Acclaimed Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster recently expressed her views on working with Generation Z, a term typically used to categorize individuals born between the late 1990s and early 2000s. In an interview with the Guardian, Foster admitted that she often finds their work ethics perplexing.

She illustrated her point by saying, 'They're like, 'Nah, I'm not feeling it today, I'm gonna come in at 10. 30am. ' However, she also commended a young Gen Z actress, Bella Ramsey. Foster lauded the 20-year-old as an exemplar of a new breed of actors who embody a 'vector of authenticity. ' Foster, who began her acting career as a child, expressed her commitment to guiding young actors, citing her own challenging experiences growing up in the industry. She humorously remarked on the 'annoying' tendencies of Gen Z in the workplace, particularly their casual approach to grammar and spelling in emails. When she corrects them, they question the necessity of adhering to grammatical norms.

Foster also offered advice to young actors, emphasizing the importance of relaxation and originality. She believes that she can assist them in discovering their unique style, which she finds more enjoyable than being the central figure in a narrative laden with pressure. Foster singled out British actress Ramsey for praise, recalling their encounter at Elle's Women in Hollywood celebration. She described the event as 'wonderful,' but observed that all attendees were donned in heels and makeup. She stressed the existence of alternative ways of expressing femininity and commended Ramsey, who delivered an impressive speech while dressed in a simple, well-tailored suit and no makeup.

Foster reflected on her younger years, stating that she would not have been permitted to dress like Ramsey at a Hollywood event due to societal constraints. She expressed hope that the current trend of authenticity would pave the way for genuine freedom. Foster also discussed her two sons' evolving attitudes towards women. She revealed that they are now staunch feminists, but there was a time when her older son believed that being disrespectful to women was a prerequisite for manhood. She corrected this misconception, attributing it to the harmful stereotypes perpetuated by society.
