Because of this, Estée Lauder Companies is now suing Jo Malone, her new company Jo Loves, and Zara's UK branch. They are accusing them of trademark infringement and breach of contract. They also claim that Jo Malone's use of her name could mislead customers into thinking the products are from the original Jo Malone brand. Jo Malone has said in the past that she regrets selling the rights to her name. The case is still ongoing, and neither Jo Malone nor Zara has commented publicly about it. Estée Lauder Companies says they respect Jo Malone's right to start new projects, but they believe contracts must be followed. They say they need to protect the brand they have invested in and built over many years.
