This part of the museum contains the old machines that played a key role in the mine's operation. The building is now a listed site, which means it is protected because of its historical importance. The redevelopment is part of a larger project that was approved earlier in the year.

The improvements will include a new visitor centre, a cafe, an outdoor play area for children, and a new exhibition space. These changes are designed to attract more visitors and help people of all ages learn about the history of mining in Washington. The F-Pit mine first opened in 1777, but it stopped working for a while before reopening about 25 years later. In 1856, the mine shaft was made deeper, reaching more than 200 meters underground. The mine finally closed in 1968, and the site was turned into a museum in 1976. Today, visitors can see the old buildings and machinery that remain above ground. The museum is a reminder of how important mining was to the local community, and the new changes will make it easier for everyone to explore and understand this part of history.
