A new and exciting project in Coventry and Warwickshire is changing the way children learn at school. For six weeks, students from Keresley Grange Primary School, Coundon Court Primary, and Camp Hill Primary School worked with professional artists to create their own 3D sculptures. This project was organized by the Pangaea Sculptors' Centre, which was started by Lucy Tomlins. The main idea is to show that art and sculpture can be used to teach many different subjects, not just art. Instead of only reading from textbooks, students got to use technology like computers, 3D scanning, and even virtual reality to help them design and build their sculptures. The project was partly funded by Innovate UK and is planned to be used in schools across England soon.

During the project, students learned how to use different materials and tools. They wore special vests to keep their clothes clean while working with clay and glue guns. The artists taught them how to use computers to model their sculptures before making them in real life. By using technology, the students discovered that art is connected to other subjects like engineering and design. This helped them see that there are many different ways to learn and many different jobs they could do in the future.

One nine-year-old student from Camp Hill Primary School said he always wanted to be an artist. He made a sculpture of an abstract person with horns, spikes, and leaves to make it look strong. The teachers noticed that the children enjoyed working with their hands and using computers. Kevin Walsh, who leads personal development at the school, said the project gave students lots of chances to do hands-on crafts and computer modeling. He hopes the project will show students that being an artist is a real career choice. The project leaders believe that learning through art can help all children, especially those who might not do well with traditional ways of learning. Soon, more schools in England will get to try this creative and exciting way of learning.
